NYC Haul- Book Con, Housingworks, Strand & MUJI
Hello all,
This is the first post of my recent trip to NYC. I had such a great time at Book Con, catching up with my dear friend and eating really good food. So stay tuned for my upcoming posts which will be spread out over the next couple of weeks.
I received a lot of books at Book Con and a lot of different freebies and goodies from different publishing companies. Here is the stack with all of the books I received not including the excerpt booklets/e-galleys. I haven't read any of them except for The Little Prince when I was younger so I am really excited to eventually read them at some point in my life.
Until next time,

Book Con Haul
Inherit the Stars by Tessa Elwood December 8th, 2015
Reawekened by Coleen Houck August 2015
I received three totes from The Book Con. The first one is from Harper Collins which has Epic Reads in the front and the back of the bag says *book shimmy*, the second one is I heart Books from Quirk Books and the last tote is from First Reads and it says I Read _____ Before You Did.
As I mentioned earlier I did received a lot of different goodies but here are a few of my favorites. The first one is a button that says I'm an Author's Hero. I review Books. There's also an excerpt from Mindy Kaling's upcoming book Why Not Me? AND an adorable Mindy Kaling Pin from Valley Cruise Press. A wall charger from BookBub which I think is just a really practical thing to give away. A page from Johanna Basford Lost Ocean which is stunning and I will treasure this because her other books (Secret Garden & Enchanted Forest) have been out of stock everywhere for months. Finally candies from Aziz Ansari Modern Romance Panel which has some sayings that are relevant to his upcoming book- Modern Romance. There was no excerpt for his book at Book Con but I was able to find one courtesy of Time Magazine.
Housing Works Bookstore Cafe
126 Crosby St, New York, NY 10012
If you haven't read my last NYC post where I shared my love for this bookstore cafe you can check it out here. There isn't really that much to talk about other than if you are in NYC they are having a street fair this Sunday July 7th. So if you are in the mood for some street fair in your life and cheap/affordable books, clothing & art check them out!
I picked up 3 books from Housing Works which were $5 each.
I really liked The Selection series but the fact that there's so many novellas irritates me and apparently now there's a spin-off series? Come on, it's out of control! But let's be honest, I will probably read it if I see it in the library or on sale for $5.
The Partner Track by Helen Wan I've been wanting to read for awhile so I am going to give that a go.
Hanging Mary by Susan Higginbotham is actually an ARC and is not coming out till March of 2016. The story line revolves around Mary Surratt who was hanged for her involvement in President Lincoln's assassination and was the first woman executed by the United States Government.
Strand
828 Broadway at 12th Street
By the time we made our way to Strand, I began to regret not bringing a rolling carry-on because I was going to suffer traveling back to Philly (and suffer I did). I couldn't go to Strand without getting anything so I picked up a book from their $1.50 cart titled Original Cyn (har har) which ended up being TERRIBLE. But I also picked up a postcard which says "There is no such thing as too many books" and I am planning to frame it and put it on my bookcase because it's true.
Muji
Oh how do I explain MUJI? It's kind of like a streamlined Japanese IKEA that also sells clothes? I don't know all that matters is that MUJI is fabulous and I am so glad it's not in Philly because I will buy everything that I don't need. I ended up picking a few things because apparently as Tom Haverford says "Treat Yo Self".
I picked up a blank planner which I love and was only $1.50, a 5-pack notebook for $3.75, a couple of gel pens which is fabulous and cheaper than getting them at Paper Source and a Hinoki face brush which I actually haven't tried but I think might work better than my current Origins face brush.
Well that's the end of my haul post. As always thanks for reading! If there's a particular book or product mentioned that you want me to a review on, please let me know.
Until next time,
