e.l.f. Beauty Haul Online + Studio Store Review

Finding an e.l.f. product at a store in Philadelphia has become increasingly frustrating so a few weeks ago, I decided to purchase a few things I've been wanting to try online when the site had a free shipping day. After I received my package I found out that an e.l.f. studio store had opened in Cherry Hill Mall, NJ, which is not very far from Philly. I took a little trip to New Jersey and lo' and behold- a haul post.

I haven't done a "beauty haul" in awhile because I have been on a decluttering mission. You've probably been seeing this book called The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up around the internet. It's a really fantastic about about decluttering and organization and when I finally was able to borrow it from the library everyone is now reading it and talking about it. If you haven't heard of it I shall link the author's page.

Going back to e.l.f., I have to say that their shipping was pretty good, the products came on time and were well packaged. The products came in an unmarked padded envelope. I didn't order any powder or shadows that could break but I did read some of the reviews online where people received broken products from the shipment. The studio store, however, is pretty neat.  The main thing that I was really excited about is the fact there are product testers. I couldn't take pictures at the store because there were  a lot of people in a very narrow store but here's one that gives you an idea of what it looks like

I definitely swatched a LOT of products and it was really nice to play around with the makeup as I would at Sephora or MAC store. I'm pretty sure that the e.l.f. studio store carries almost everything but the $1 brushes that have white handles (I could be wrong but I don't remember seeing it at the store). The Studio store does carry all of the other products that are $1 but the testers for those products are behind the counter. My only complaint about the store is store sales associates lack of knowledge. They couldn't give recommendation, the one I asked about a non-shimmer bronzer showed me a bronzer that was way too deep for my skin tone and said "well, that works for me".

Now that we've talked my store experience let's get to the products.

Studio Brushes $3

Studio Powder Brush- is a really good size flat top brush that works really well for applying both pressed and loose powders.  I got it to replaced an old kabuki brush that I've been using to apply my powder and it's been working out really well. All the studio brushes are super soft and easy to clean.

Studio Small Tapered Brush - I picked up because I really like the Studio Blush Brush but sometimes it's too big when I'm trying to contour. I think especially for people who are interested in trying out contouring for the first time you should always try to use a smaller brush. The tapered brushes are especially great for blending out makeup.  Although e.l.f. claims that you can use the brush for both cream and powder, if you are interested in using the bronzer/blush cream duo I would recommend the small stipple brush instead.

Studio Flawless Concealer Brush - is slightly tapered at the top and although I like using the Real Technique Miracle Complexion Sponge to apply concealer I do like using this brush to apply powder and highlighter.

Studio Matte Lip $3

Rich Red, Berry Sorbet and Tea Rose

The Studio Matte Lip are really easy too apply and do not bleed but they do smudge quite a lot so I find myself re-applying quite a bit through out the day. The texture is similar to the Wet n'Wild Matte lipsticks which is on the dry side, other than that, these lip products are pretty great for $3.

My favorite color out of the three is probably Berry Sorbet. Rich Red is a bit on the orangey-red side which I can't really use everyday while Tea Rose I have to use with a lip liner because on it's own the color does not suit my complexion.

e.l.f Shimmering Facial Whip ($1)

The final product that I picked up I was the most excited about because I cannot find it anywhere which led to the online shopping. This facial whip did not disappoint. This is a great cream highlighter for only $1. It's super pigmented as you can see below you just need a tiny little bit to get a beautiful, glowing result. I have been applying it with my fingers which work just fine but if I got a little overzealous, a few dab with the Real Technique sponge usually does the trick in toning it a down a bit. I don't know I will pick up the other three shades as this little tube will probably last me a long time but for me personally this is a great highlighter for my skin tone.

Let me know what other e.l.f. product I should try next time! As always, thanks for reading.

Until next time,
