September Reading Challenge Update
I still have a lot more books than I planned on reading on the last stretch of the Reading Challenge but I still plan on finishing the challenge on time. As usual, I am using the Goodreads rating system.
A Play
Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare
I read this in part because I was watching the 2012 Joss Whedon's adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing and I realized that even though I took a year of Shakespeare that I don't remember the majority of this play. I enjoyed the experience of reading this along with the movie because on parts that I struggled with, I was able to reference the scenes in the movie.
4/5 stars
A book that was originally written in a different language
Le Petite Prince/The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
I received the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt version at Book Con & it's just been sitting around in my TBR box. I do have the French version at home somewhere with lots of scribbles from when I was taking French classes. It's definitely more than just a children's book and really lovely to read. The movie was released at Cannes earlier this year but the US release date is still TBD.
3/5 stars
A popular author's first book
The Martian by Andy Weir
There's three months left to 2015 so I think I can safely say that this was probably the best book I've read in 2015. You can check out my review if you haven't. I plan on seeing the movie very soon and will let you know if the movie lived up to the hype.
5/5 stars
A banned book
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
I was helping a student I tutor on an assignment and ended up reading the novel. I get why this is an assigned school reading but I'm not a fan. I was fortunate it wasn't on my reading this because I think I would have disliked it as much as Lord of the Flies in High School.
2/5 stars
I think the hardest book that I will be reading is Casual Vacancy (Book Over 500 Pages) mostly because I'm kind of scared to read it because I got it at a library book sale for a quarter and there was about 10 copies for sale. Is it that bad? If you've read it, please let me know. As always, thanks for reading!
Until next time,
