Charity Walk- Donor Dash Philadelphia

Philadelphia is a gem for charity races and "regular" non-charitable races. There are several part of the city that's ideal for these races. One of the most popular event is the Broad Street Race which draws in thousands of people from around the world. I've been participating in different charity events since High School and it's such a great way to not only support causes and charities you love but also an opportunity to get some much needed outdoor time.

Earlier today, I participated in the annual Donor Dash sponsor which supports the Gift of Life foundation. The event starts around the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The actual race took place on Martin Luther King Drive. The museum was still open to business but the round about entrance to the Museum was closed for the event.

The 10k and 5k runs started at 9:00/9:30 am respectively and they started the group photo and walk around 10:30am. Our team didn't get our photo taken until 11:45 am so we were one of the last groups to participate in the walk portion of the donor dash.

Many of the larger teams had tents available with food and drinks for participants which was very nice.

We had two tents! Filled with cases of water, pretzels and orange juice
Waiting to get our group picture taken on the steps. There were so many teams!

Here are the view from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Walking along the Schuylkill River you get a breathtaking view of the back of the Art Museum and the Historic Boat House Row.

I had such an incredible time walking with David Parrot's Team and Furness High School staff and students.

If you haven't had the opportunity to walk/run/bike around the Art Museum area, it is an absolute must!
On every first Sunday, the Art Museum has a pay as you wish for the four museums around the Parkway Museum District including the Rodin Museum.

Let me know if you annually participate in any races in your city!

Until next time,
