Top 10 Beauty Finds & Keeps
I had intended to publish a 2014 Top Beauty list earlier in January but a few of my favorite products I didn't purchase until around November so I don't think it was fair to call it a 2014 list. So here we are in February and now at least I've had enough time to play with them and make sure that they really are my favorites.
This towelette is great when I get super lazy taking off my make up at night. I used to have the Yes to Cucumber & Blueberry towelettes but I think this one works so much better. It has thick material that is quilted which gives it a good texture. It cleans my face really well and usually I follow it up with a toner just to make sure all the dirt is off and a moisturizer.
This cleansing balm is probably the best find of the year for me. I was hesitant getting on the cleansing balm wagon because I had tried the DIY olive oil makeup remover and the body shop version and had terrible reaction to both. This cleansing balm is absolutely amazing, it's really gentle on the face and yet it gets even the most stubborn waterproof mascara off. I know that in comparison to the products on this list it's the most expensive at $28.50. But I've been using this for two months at least 4 times a week and I've barely made a dent.
I love this kit. It's compact, creamy, blendable, and affordable. What more do you want?
I've written about my love for Wet n' Wild before but out of all of the products in their line, this is probably my favorite. This trio is just the perfect basic palette, every single color is highly pigmented and lasts a long time even without primer. While we are talking about Wet n' Wild shadows however, I bought the Quad set in ... and I found it very flaky and not as good, I don't know if they are different formulas but for now I am sticking with the trio.
This foundation stick is my first ever drugstore foundation. I have BB Creams and moisturizer from the drugstore but I've never purchased a foundation from a drugstore because my skin is really weird. Sometimes a foundation would look really great once applied but after a few minutes since I have an oily skin, it'll oxides and turns orange. I ended up purchasing this foundation because I knew that my Clinique foundation was just the wrong base color but I was too lazy to get color match for a new one. It got really bad last summer and I needed a foundation that would match my skin tone fast. I saw this at the store and after trying it, absolutely love it. Even though it has a 'moisturizing' core, I still use my Clinique moisturizing gel as a base and I would apply this stick directly on my face and blend it out with the Real Technique brush. It doesn't last quiet as long in the summer months but for the price and convenient packaging this is a great product for oily skin.
Again with the foundation, this is my first drugstore concealer, I was a hard core lancome concealer fan. I picked this up a few months after I got the foundation and Maybelinne makes it super easy to match all their "Fit Me" products together.
This is my go to eyeshadow of the moment. It's super creamy and just really gorgeous color. I like that I can layer it and give it the illusion that I'm wearing two different shades of brown when in reality it's just really good blending and layering. It doesn't crease and works great as a base for a smokey look.
I saw this at Rite Aid and I wasn't sure if it would work but I really wanted to give it a go and boy was I surprised. This product essentially doubles your nail polish collection because it's a mattefying top coat that will leave your nails with a matte finish.
I have been looking for a true red that matches my skin tone. It's actually super difficult because red lipstick tends to look very orange-y on my face. This lipstick by Rimmel is gorgeous and affordable. It's bright, vibrant and pretty long lasting.
Real Techniques Brushes Starter Kit $17.99 & Expert Face Brush $8.99
I love these brushes. They are really great quality and super affordable. The starter kit is a bit pricey but if you buy it at ULTA there's usually a $3.50 off coupon online. I actually purchased mine during my birthday month and I think I got a $5 off coupon. I don't know how I can live without the Expert Face Brush now, it is so much better than using a stipple brush.
Until next time,
