Sample Sunday & First Impressions of the New COVERGIRL Super Sizer Mascara and Intensify Me! Liquid Eyeliner

Today we are going to talk about new Covergirl products. As you can see from the photo below, today's Sample Sunday is brought to you by Covergirl and Influenster. If you don't know what Influenster is, it's an online community where people review products and members who have active social media presence like bloggers would sometime get what's called a VoxBox from different company to try out new products. So my Vox Box this months includes two brand new products that are not even available in stores yet: COVERGIRL The Super Size Mascara and New Intensify Me! Liquid Eyeliner by LashBlast (wow that's a mouthful).

COVERGIRL, Influenster, VoxBox, Super Sizer Mascara, Intesify Me!

I have to admit that this is my first Covergirl products in a few years. I just haven't been impressed with their past products that I tried so it was really fun and interesting to try these two new products. The product card that came in the box says that the mascara is supposed to give you "lashes so big, you get 400% corner to corner volume, and dramatically different eyes" while the liner's "new paddle-shaped tip makes a dramatic eye look easy by providing the control of a pencil and the intensity of a liquid eyeliner. Get two looks in one with no mess-thick and dramatic or thin and elegant".

So let's about the the liner first. I have to say I don't usually grab liquid eyeliner. Mostly because I can't see without my glasses and most days I'm too lazy to put on my contacts and liquid eyeliners can get messy. The fact that this product came in a pencil shape I LOVE because it gives such a better handle while applying liquid liner. I also like the shape of the applicator, it's thicker and got more shape to it and overall feels a lot of more comfortable to apply. The actually application is great because it doesn't tug.  You can actually see on the photo below that you can use it on the thinner side or thicker side to create two different looks. The only problem I have with this otherwise great liner is the actual formula. It's not waterproof and it crease and flakes. I would have to try it with a primer next time and see if that helps but a rather disappointing formula.

The mascara on the other hand is pretty darn great. It's shaped kind of funny the bristles aren't straight up and down, they are kind of on a curve that's supposed to maximize volume. Would I say it lengthened 400%? Out of one application, probably not. I would usually apply two coats of mascara but I found that again this is not waterproof and since the formula is so wet, if I apply two coats my lashes would just droop down and become very heavy. Since I have super tiny, wispy lashes it's nice to seem some volume out of one application. The bristles are smaller than my favorite Maybelinne Falsies' so it's great for bottom lashes too. Next time I will probably apply one coat of this mascara and then the Falsies' to make it waterproof.

I know the pictures on the right aren't great (apologies) I tried the products while I was travelling and didn't know what the lighting deal would be. I definitely like the mascara a lot more than the liner but having said that, I like this liner a lot more than the drugstore ones I currently own. So in the end, yes I will probably use both of the products.

In case you are wondering-I don't usually line my eyes all the way to the outer corner because my outer corner is lower than my inner and if I line all the way to the edge of my eye, I would have really sad looking eyes. And I do have to apply heavier liner because my eyes are hooded.

Well, that's the end of another Sample Sunday. Much thanks to Influenster & Covergirl for sending me the products to try. As always, thanks for reading!

Until next time,
