The Royal We Book Review & July + August Reading Challenge Update

I read quite a lot books during both July & August but as I'm nearing the end of the list, it has become increasingly harder to read things that are on my TBR and match it with the challenge list. With that said, here are the four books I read in July/August + a short review of The Royal We.

The Royal We Review, 365 Style, The Queen of the Tearling

A book written by author with same initials:

The Royal We by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan

Okay so technically, it's not an author with the same initial as mine. However, one of the co-authors' name is Jessica and my name is Jessica... look at that. Better than initials, no?

Review:
The Royal We tells the story of Rebecca "Bex" porter, an America exchange student at Oxford University who became acquainted with (and eventually has a relationship) with Prince Nicholas of Wales. Readers should not dismiss this book so easily due to it's similarities to the story of William and Catherine. The authors- Cocks & Morgan managed to create a wonderful story that can be literally ripped from the headline but with characters that are truthful and grounded. As Bex's relationship with Prince Nicholas developed, she is unable to cope with the immense change that befall her as she embark on this highly coveted front page gossip. The book spans the years of their relationship  and all the drama, heart break and dilemmas that comes with you know... being an american commoner who is dating the future King of United Kingdom. I like that the book allowed me to be so immersed in the world that Cocks & Morgan created that I didn't compare it to William & Kate's relationship. Instead it gave me a glimpse of what it could have been like for Kate as a whole nation constantly watches her every move and how tough it might have been to find people that you can trust. The Royal We is such a lovely book and it's more than just a love story between Bex and Nicholas, it's a story about family and friends and finding your footings in the world. And even though I'm a sucker for happy ending, I'm glad that Cocks and Morgan didn't end with " and they live happily ever after".
