e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Blending Brush & HD Blush Review

I've been looking for a multi-purpose brush that I can take while travelling. Packing a foundation, contour, blush, and kabuki brushes just seems excessive for short trips. I've actually been successful in using my Real Technique sponge to apply foundation, blush and bronze but it's a bit difficult to get more coverage for heavier foundation and a more defined contour.

I decided to head to the e.l.f. Studio store in Cherry Hill, N.J. and browse their collection of brushes. The Ultimate Blending Brush looks awfully similar to my real technique (although it is rounder and larger in size) so I went ahead with the Beautifully Bare Blending Brush.

Before we get to the two products I have to say that e.l.f. definitely stepped up their game. I went to this store last month and the service was pretty bad. This time around, I could tell that the associates really knew their products which makes the whole experience better. I do have to note that if you decide to go to the studio store in Cherry Hill, the store is quite narrow so it's really difficult to swatch products when there are a lot of people. If you plan on swatching products at any makeup store/counter make sure that they are clean because you don't know where those hands have been. And I have friends who've worked in beauty counters and I can't even share half the horror stories they've told me. There are a lot of different types of sanitizer at the store but if you still aren't sure just ask an associate to help you clean it up before applying it.

The Beautifully Bare Blending Brush is $6 and at the store is located with the rest of the Beautifully Bare collection.

Size comparison between the e.l.f. studio line brush vs. blending brush
The handle is relatively smaller than the rest of the studio brushes which I love. It's compact but covers a larger surface area. The tapered shape I thought was just great for doing contour, applying blushes and highlights. The bristles are the softest out of the brushes I've owned from e.l.f. and I've been using it several times and washed it once and it hasn't shed.

Beautifully Bare Blending Brush vs. Real Technique Expert Face Brush
Compared with the Real Technique brush, you can definitely see the sheer volume of this brush. Especially when I'm in a rush, this brush just blends everything so beautifully and quick. I cannot tell you how much I love this brush. It is so soft & has so many different uses that it will probably be my new go-to travel brush.

Now on to the e.l.f HD blush. I picked probably the least intimidating shade which is headliner. I wish that this line was around when I was doing theater because it's super pigmented and long lasting and would be great to wear on stage. The trick to using this product is to pump a little bit of product on the back of your hand and use a stipple brush or your hand to pat it around a couple of times and then pick up the color and apply it to your cheeks.  I've been using the e.l.f. small stipple brush and it works out great. You can also use a beauty blender or the beautifully bare blending brush. (HD blush, $3)

I will be using both products on an upcoming #playbeautifully post which will have more e.l.f. products. As always, thanks for reading!

Until next time,
