Bringing Back Sample Sunday & Fragrance Samples That Made the Cut
Whilst sorting my makeup collection I realized that my sample collection has gotten a bit out of control. I couldn't figure out why considering I haven't been buying a ton of makeup but alas these things do accumulate. There are samples that I do use and end up buying the full size but there are others that end up in the sample basket never to be seen from again.
So here I am bringing back Sample Sunday because I kinda miss it (I'll link some old Sample Sunday favorites below!). The samples that I will be testing will vary from single use product to travel size so I will do my best to give a proper review.
The criteria:
2. CHANEL COCO Mademoiselle and 3. CHANCE CHANEL I think over the two I prefer COCO Mademoiselle. They both have flowery-citrus notes but for some reason the longer CHANCE CHANEL stays on my skin all I can smell is roses. I have Chanel No 5. and I'm actually more partial to Chanel No. 19 over these two so I don't see myself purchasing either anytime soon but I do enjoy
the samples.
4. Tom Ford Velvet Orchid Out of the 5 if I were to invest in full size fragrance this Fall it would probably be this one. I really love deep fragrance in the Fall and Winter time and this is incredible. It does have that powdery scent which again is very specific and not everyone would like but gosh I love using this fragrance. I still think however that Blackberry & Bay by Jo Malone is my go to Fall & Winter scent. It's the perfect combination of deep floral, musk/earthy and spicy notes.
5. Michael Kors White Luminous Gold This is my least favorite out of the 5 because it just doesn't last and I find this to be true for a few of the Micheal Kors fragrance I've sampled. It's nice but not something I would purchase.
1. I'm going to sort through all of my samples and sort products I want to try and ones I'll offer to my family and friends. There's no point of wasting a perfectly good sample of a travel size product when I know I'm not going to use it.
2. I'm going to attempt to try the sample in order of necessity (unless it's a single use product). I currently have 8 mascara sitting in my dresser and I'm pretty sure half of them are dry so I'm going to make sure that it's something I need to replace or don't have in my collection before I open let's say the travel size Urban Decay Perversion mascara. *cries*
3. And finally, instead of reviewing a single product I may review a collection of similar products (all lotions, moisturizer, etc) or if I'm feeling cheeky and decide to do a whole day of product testing I might review multiple products at once.
The first sample reviews are the fragrance samples that have made the cut. I got rid of about 10 of these travel size samples from Sephora and these are what I've decided to keep. The 5 that I decided to keep all have very similar scent. All of them have floral top notes that are not too overwhelmingly sweet but also have an earthy and musky base notes.
1. DIANE Eau de toilette (no longer at Sephora which makes me question how long I've had this sample in my sample drawer but you can find it on Amazon or I've seen them at T.J. Maxx or Marshalls). This is probably the closest to what I really enjoy year-round which is a floral-woody scent. It's not a scent that's for everyone and it reminds me of the that whiff you get while shopping at a vintage store.
