After Decluttering Pt 2.: Curating My Wardrobe & Primark Haul
On my recent After Decluttering Pt.1 & The Curated Closet posts, I've mentioned some pieces that I've purchased for Fall from Primark but before we get to the actual haul I do want to talk about the process of curating my wardrobe which includes my wish list.
As I shared on Part 1, I was able to buy pieces from the thrift stores which was great opportunity to try on different pieces for a lot less than had I buy them at retail price. There are obviously a lot of places to buy pieces you want for an affordable price but you also have to look at quality and value. Originally I had wanted to create a 2-part series but I've decided to add Part 3 which will talk about the pit falls I've encountered, pieces I've kept after the decluterring that I'm finally able to part with and investment pieces that I love.
An example of a pit fall that I will share more in detail on Pt. 3 is the idea of buying items without keeping a wish list. I officially finished de-cluttering back in June and started buying pieces at the thrift stores but donating most of them after a few weeks . What the Curated Closet book allowed me to do is look at my closets as a whole, determine pieces that work and write a wish list down and stick to it when I encounter pieces that I'm unsure about.
I made the following wish list and took it with me when I went to Primark at King of Prussia and I was able to hit 5 out of the 6 which was great.
My Fall Wish List
1. Oversize scarf
2. Grey sweater
3. Maroon sweater for a pop of color
4. Vest cardigan
5. Comfortable blouse (non-polyester)
6. Black Loafers
What I got...
I tend to wear dark color clothing BUT when I looked at my wardrobe as a whole I noticed that accessories tends to be very bright. My go to everyday purse is a bright pink Ralph Lauren tote, my work/laptop bag is a purple NorthFace and scarves in so many different colors and patterns. There were some contenders and I almost bought two but I stopped myself. I ended up with this patterned scarf that's blue and white with a hint of pink which looks great with pretty much any outfits that I've worn. It's a great travel scarf. Since I ride Amtrak trains and flies quite often it's good to have an oversize scarf that I can also wrap myself in when it gets cold.
The next two items are pretty much the same thing in 2 different colors. I've learned that when I like something, it's okay to buy it in different colors or patterns which I often do when I shop at places at LOFT because I just know that their cut works for my body. I'm really not a big fan of turtle necks but these weren't as suffocating and the grey one actually has a slightly lower neck than the maroon. It's a great work sweater, I can dress it down with jeans but I can also wear it for work.
Between the two I've been wearing this slightly more than the grey just becasue I think that the shade compliments my complexion really well. I also love the blouse pattern on the bottom.
This was a bargain. I didn't even know that Primark had clearance sections but this cardigan was $10 and I've been wearing it every other day because it's so versatile. I don't own a lot of clothes in this shade. I have another cardigan that's this camel/light brown color which I love. The fact that it's on my wish list and I was able to get it in a neutral shade is amazing. I also have that there's a hood, I feel great in it.
I've learned that I really don't like acryllic blouses. Tops are fine but for button downs I prefer either a crisp Ralph Lauren ... or something similar to this. It's black and white patterned and it's really easy to wear. It doesn't wrinkle either which makes it a great travel blouse.
Until next time,

Short-sleeve Top
This wasn't on my list and was most definitely an impulse purchase. I remember seeing it I think on Lily Pebbles or Estee Lalonde I can't quite remember which but I love it. It's super flattering and warm. #noregrets
