Blueberry-Banana Smoothie

While I was working on a blog post today, I was craving for some Jamba Juice. But alas since there's no Jamba Juice close to where I live, I decided to make my own smoothie with what I had available at home.

For this recipe, the main ingredients I used are: frozen blueberries, plain yogurt and frozen bananas. Frozen bananas??? Yup... frozen bananas. You know when your bananas starts to turn brown and bruised all over the skin but it's actually really sweet but just slightly tender? When that happens I usually do one of two things- 1) I mashed them up and make banana pancakes or 2) I put them in the freezer so I can use them in a smoothie recipe (just like this one!). Using frozen fruits also cut out the need for ice cubes which in my opinion waters down the smoothie and I also hate biting into those tiny ice chips.

This recipe is very flexible so feel free to change the ingredients up. I ended up using whole fat plain yogurt because I bought a tub of it for a Chicken Tandoori recipe. Since I used plain yogurt instead of my usual vanilla yogurt, I added the vanilla extract and honey for sweetness.

Well all right then, let's get started:

Ingredients:
1 Banana
1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 cup of yogurt (whole, non-fat, greek, etc)

Optional:
1/8 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Tbsp honey

Add the bananas, blueberries and yogurt into the blender

Add honey and vanilla extract

Blend until desired consistency

Enjoy!

Hope you enjoy this quick recipe. Now that it's spring and the weather is really nice and warm, I see lots of smoothies in my future.

Until next time,
