Fitness & Physical Therapy Haul
Hello!
It's been a few months since I've been able to post (other than a couple of book reviews) and here's why... I fractured my ankle. Not that there's a good time to get an injury but summer is usually a busy time for me because on top of everything else, I run an internship program for High School students from June to August. With the injury and the program it was very difficult for me to find the energy for anything else and I don't want to publish contents that aren't up to snuff. Now that I'm feeling a lot better,I figured I would share with you my recent haul.
Some stuff I've purchased specifically for home therapy but please keep in mind that I'm doing the activities with the supervision of a physical therapist and an orthopedic doctor. This is by no mean a health post so if you are suffering from similar issues definitely seek out medical professionals.

1. Pro Stretch - Amazon
I've always had difficulties running because I would get shin splints and tightness after a couple of miles so after I fractured my ankle and talked to my physical therapists one of the things that I would do at therapy is using a slant board and the pro stretch. It's one of my favorite things to do now even on the days I'm not running, it's part of my daily stretch routine.
2. Nike Revolution 3 Lightweight Running Shoes $59.95 - DSW
I decided to purchase a new running shoes because I had to wear a laced up brace and it had plastic inserts on the sides which damaged the sides of my Reebok. Since I have a wide and flat feet it's often difficult to find shoes that are comfortable. I really love the color combination of grey/orange (there are other combination) and considering all of my workout clothes consists of black and grey it's a great pop of color. It is probably the lightest running shoes I've ever owned and I'm a fan.
4. Textured Foam Rollers $15 - TJ MAXX (not available online)
I have a regular foam roller that I do use but these textured ones gives me more relief. I could purchase them on Amazon but with foam rollers I have to be careful because they have different density and textured type. I like this particular one because it has different textures and the dip at the center gets really deep on my back and hip. I've been using a foam roller for a decade now and it's one of my favorite ways for relieving muscle ache after a workout.
5. 5 lb Kettlebell $10 - TJ MAXX (not available online)
I fell in love with kettlebell about a year ago. I'm a fan of any exercise that works your whole body and also builds muscle strengths. I decided to stick with a lower pound to start with. I'm definitely ready for a heavier weight but this is a great beginner set. Again with kettlebell you want to make sure that both hands fit comfortably on the handle because some runs super small which makes it hard to hold and swing.
6. Elite Core Sliders $15.99 - Amazon
I am using more for therapy at the moment but I'm searching at workouts that would incorporate the core sliders.
7. Sweatpants Alternative Eco-Fleece Jogger - Nordstrom Rack (or at Alternative Earth) I've been using this jogger a lot. It's one of the most comfortable pair of pants I've ever owned. I love using it for yoga or just a quick run. Sometimes sweat pants runs long and I like that it's tapered at the bottom. I found it at the reduced section at Nordstrom Rack for $11 and it's $64 at Alternative Earth website so I think I got a pretty good deal.
8. Adidas Climawarm- Nordstrom Rack
I'm pretty sure this is an out of season product since I haven't even seen the 3 bars logo in any of the newer Adidas merchandise which have the trefoil logo. I also don't see a lot of Adidas products that aren't black and white so I thought it'd be a colorful (and warm) addition to my wardrobe for Fall. I only found one Climawarm product on the Adidas website and it's a hoodie.
9. Massage Wand $7 at TJ Maxx
I already have a massage wand but found the textured dots on the wand give extra relief. Similar wand on Amazon.
10. KT Tape
If you watched the Olympics you've probably seen some of that athletes like Kerri Walsh Jennings and Meb Keflezighi sporting these tape. I was in a collegiate rowing team and on my final year I had developed injuries on my elbow and shoulder and was in a lot of pain. With proper treatment, physical therapy and proper tape placement I was able to compete with minimal pain. I bought it at T.J. MAXX as well because they are around $7 but you can buy it on Amazon for around $12.
Since I do a lot of home exercise I'm thinking of doing a favorite YouTube workout videos + my September workout calendar. Let me know if that's something that would be of interest. Other than that I'm excited to be writing again in a more consistent schedule! As always, thanks for reading.
Until next time,
