benefit Magical Brow Stars Review
Hello!
Sometimes last year I was interested in trying some of the benefit brow products and came across this limited edition set (not available at benefit website but Shade 3 is available at Macys). For $59 I got to try 5 full size products plus a brow brush/spoolie.
I ended up choosing shade 3 because everything else looked either too dark or too red for my skin tone. I ended up having to wait to start using this because I was using up my other brow products. The individual reviews are from my least to most favorite. Just a quick side note - I take my brow products very seriously because of an incident a few years ago when I was trying to get it shaped. It has taken me years to get my brows to this point where I don't feel it's completely uneven and wrong. I will link all of the brow products I've referenced or ones that I've used and would recommend.
5. Foolproof Brow Powder full-size | 2.0 g Net wt. 0.07 oz. $24
I'm personally not a big fan of powder brow products. Because I have combination-oily skin doesn't stay put throughout the day. Even the brow powders I've used in the past comes with a wax so it stays on longer. If I were to use this on a regular basis I would probably set it with a clear brow gel. In addition to personal preference, the sponge applicator is pretty useless. I get that they are trying to create this "soft" look but I feel it looks better using a brow brush and spoolie (pictured below). I do think this will work better for someone who has sparse brows that may really benefit from having two different shades of brow powders to create a more natural look but this just wasn't for me.
Angled Brow Brush & Spoolie $20
4. Ka-BROW! cream-gel brow color full-size | 3.0 g Net wt. 0.1 oz. $24
Next we have the cream gel brow with a brush which is similar to the Anastasia DIPBROW but a bit waxier. I like this just fine. It does work, the shade is a bit too warm for my liking but the bigger issue is that it dries really fast. I keep a tight lid on this and I've been using this the most out of the 5 products because I know that gel products tend to dry up faster but I'm only 3 weeks in and it's pretty dry. I will try to use INGLOT duraline and see if it's something that would work or if it's just going to dry up even more and crumble.
3. Precisely, My Brow Pencil full-size | 0.08 g Net wt. 0.002 oz. $24
&
2. Goof Proof Brow Pencil full-size | 0.34 g Net wt. 0.01 oz. $24
My third and second favorite are the brow pencils. We have the Precisely, My Brow which is a thin pencil similar to the Anastasia Brow Wiz which is great to shape and define your brows. Again with the rest of the products I feel like they are okay but another brand just has it for either better or cheaper. The next one is the Goof Proof pencil which is probably the one that traditionally I would use most often. My favorite brow pencil is actually Etude House Drawing Eye Pencil which is in this shape and is available only for $5.
1. Gimme Brow+ full-size | 3.0 g Net wt. 0.1 oz. $24
The final product and probably my favorite is Gimme Brow. Out of the Shade 3 collection this is the most neutral and doesn't come off as too warm/red on my face. I like the applicator, it stays on all day so I don't have any major issues with it other than the fact that I probably like the Glossier Boy Brow much more. The Glossier is also only $16 for a little bit more product as well.
The Swatches from left to right:
(both Fool Proof powders, Gimme Brow, Ka-BROW! cream gel,
Precisely My Brow & Goof Proof Brow Pencil)
At the end of the day I'm probably not going to be repurchasing any benefit brow products. I feel like I'm using or have used products that are very close to these 5 that I just love more. As always, thanks for reading.
Until next time,
Jessica
