A Quick Guide to Shopping on Yesstyle: K-Beauty, Stationaries and More!
Hello!
This post is for any of you out there who are interested in shopping on YesStyle but aren't sure if it's legit or how it works. I've been shopping on YesStyle for almost ten years now. Before K-Beauty got really big in the U.S. there weren't that many places where you can get K-Beauty from different brands. Sure, some stores like The Face Shop had a flagship store in NYC or you can find some selection at your local H Mart but there wasn't one that carried products within reasonable price range. Online, you have Amazon where there's individual sellers who usually up charge the product so high based on demands that it's not actually worth purchasing them. Now there's certainly a lot of different options with places like SokoGlam and even Jolse.
There might be some confusion since on the homepage of YesStyle there's usually a korean beauty brand on sale but YesStyle is a Hong Kong based retailer and the products ship out of their warehouse in Hong Kong. They do carry a large selection of K-Beauty that you might know like Laneige which Sephora carries (but not the full line), Cosrx (at ULTA), Missha, Dr. Jart +, Etude House, The Face Shop, Klairs, Wishtrend and Nature Republic but they also carry brands that are extremely popular in Korea and the rest of Asia but relatively less known here such as A'Pieu, Tosowoong, Pyungkang Yul, Heimish and Klavuu among many others.
In addition to Korea, they also carry beauty products from other countries but what you might find interesting are Japanese beauty products from brands like SK-II, Shiseido, Kao and from a company called Rohto Mentholatum which owns Oxy (acne products) and Hada Labo which carries an extremely popular cleanser and moisturizer.
In addition to beauty products, YesStyle carries a large number of clothing, bags, accessories and what I find more relevant - stationary products.
So how do you navigate YesStyle? The tips I've listed are also valid for most online based retailers in general including sites like Alibaba or Taobao if you can manage to navigate that. To lessen the chance of my product being a bust I usually stick to the following:
1. Check the Reviews. When possible, stick to products that have reviews. A lot of beauty products won't have photos associated but most popular products that are in the clothing, accessories (bags), and home goods department will have pictures. An example are stickers and washi tapes that are not quiet as opaque as they seem in the photo but are actually completely transparent. You can also look for reviews that only have photos by going to "Refined by" tabs and scroll all the way down.
2. Buying Clothes on YesStyle? When buying clothes: measure, measure and measure and read the reviews. Most people are kind enough to write their height, weight and "regular size" measurement and the size they purchased. Remember that the "one size fits all" is usually for Asian body type measurement so they are definitely not an American "one size fits all". I personally have not bought clothes for myself. I've bought accessories like bags, scarves, etc. but I've bought friends clothes on their behalf because they want to just buy 1 thing and you have to spend $35 to get the free shipping so I would just add it on my order and they were pretty successful. With clothes in general I feel like if it's too good to be true then it's probably to good to be true.
3. Patience is key. Sometimes when you are shopping you'll encounter a note that the product is out of stock. That simply means that you can buy it at that price (if it's on sale) but your items won't ship until all the products in your basket are in their warehouse in Hong Kong for shipment. For example, I recently placed an order on August 21st but 2 of my items are marked as "waiting for stock". Most of the time, they will tell you the expected delivery of the products to their warehouse before you purchase not delivery to destination aka my house. So at the the moment I think we are looking at mid-September arrival for the products which means that it probably won't get to my house until the end of September.
4. Delivery and Tracking. I can't speak for people in other region and you will see that a lot of negative comments regarding delivery issues are from people in other regions of the world like the U.K. I will say that my last delivered purchase I ordered on August 11th and it was shipped on August 19th and arrived at my house on August 26th. It was delivered by regular USPS but with a DHL delivery box. I do think for the U.S. that the estimate they usually give you of 2 weeks is pretty accurate as long as all of your products are in stock.
5. Freebies? If you join their rewards program, you can earn rewards for "StyleBucks" which are coupons you can use towards your purchase. If you follow YesStyle on Instagram they usually post daily freebies that you can redeem for free if you happen to make a purchase that day. I forgot about this on my current pending purchase but my recently delivered purchase came with a wallet that has crane illustrations which I am re-gifting to my niece.
Now I want to share some of my favorite things I got from YesStyle:
Beauty:
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
Moonshot Micro Setting Fit Cushion
Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid Lotion (you can also buy refill bags) & face wash
Etude House Drawing Pencil & Collagen Cream
Sheet Masks (Favorite brands: Innisfree, MediHeal, ItsSkin, Dr.Jart+)
Accessories:
Pencil Case
Washi Tapes
Canvas Tote Bags
Pen Holder
I hope this helps any of you who had questions about YesStyle. This post is not sponsored I just had a lot of friends that wanted to know how to shop on YesStyle so I figured I share what I know but if you are interested in shopping on YesStyle you can use my friends referral (not influencer code) to save 5%.
